How did I get it?:
Received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis:

Zara “Zip” McKee and Kieran Lanier thought they had put the threats from Kieran’s past behind them in the first installment of the In Your Dreams series. But when danger comes for them once again, Zip, Kieran, and their families find themselves on separate summer road trips that none of them had anticipated. When all paths converge in North Carolina, the two families are forced to deal with each other and the secrets they’ve kept out of love and fear.

But Kieran is keeping the biggest secret of all from everyone but Zip. He hasn’t had a dream—about the future, about anything—for months. And while Zip and Kieran are grappling with what the new twist in Kieran’s sleeping disorder might mean, a mysterious stranger reveals information that could change Kieran’s life–or end it.

Thoughts:

I’ve recently read the first book in this series, In Your Dreams, please see my review HERE. I was completely enthralled by it, so I just had to read the sequel As You Wake as soon as I can. I’m happy to say that As You Wake is just as gripping and I’m interested to see where this series goes.

The plot continues to be exciting and original. Sometimes with a series, if you’ve loved the first one, it is hard to match the initial book. This is not the case with As You Wake. It’s as well-paced and easy to read as its predecessor.

As You Wake develops the characters beautifully. I began to know more about them and care for what happened to them. I loved the introduction of some new characters as well. It was incredibly intriguing. I loved Zip just as much as the first book. She’s a fun character. Kieran is still a cute character, but he seems a lot more serious in this instalment. Not surprising with the issues he has to deal with. Kayla, Kieran’s sister is a lot more developed in this story, which was great as I find her sarcasm incredibly funny and I like knowing more about her.

As You Wake is a different Young Adult read. Its characters are relatable and lovable with real issues. I look forward to reading the third book in the series when it is released!

Would I recommend it?:
Of course!
