How did I get it?:
A present from a friend!

Synopsis:

Imagine you’re the only boy in a town of men. And you can hear everything they think. And they can hear everything you think. Imagine you don’t fit in with their plans… Todd Hewitt is just one month away from the birthday that will make him a man. But his town has been keeping secrets from him. Secrets that are going to force him to run…

Thoughts:

I have heard so much about the Chaos Walking series, so I thought it was time to check it out. I’m so glad I didn’t ignore all the recommendations to read it, as it’s a brilliant, engaging book and I will definitely be checking out the rest of the series.

The Knife of Never Letting Go is seen as teenage fiction, but I truly believe it can be enjoyed by any reader; both male and female. I thought the writing and story was unique and creative. This is the first book of Patrick Ness’ that I’ve read, but it certainly won’t be the last.

The main characters, Todd and Viola are intriguing. I really grew to love them both. They developed so well during the story. I also fell in love with Todd’s dog Manchee. I was devastated at one point of the story, when Todd had to make a decision.. but I won’t say anymore and ruin it. 😉 Patrick Ness is a fantastic writer, the scenes between Todd and Manchee are so well written and the relationship which grew between them was incredibly poignant at times.

I am reading so many books that are series at the moment, but The Knife Of Never Letting Go stands out for me. It ends on such a frustrating, but brilliant cliffhanger. I feel like I’ll be reading the next book a lot sooner than I had anticipated. It being aimed at a teenage audience, the amount of violence did surprise me. I would definitely recommend it towards the older range of teenage and adults. I can’t wait to continue the series!

Would I recommend it?:
Of course!
