Dead Silent

How did I get it?:
NetGalley- thanks to Hachette Children’s Books/Orchard Books

Previously read by the same author:
Dead Jealous

When Poppy Sinclair and her boyfriend visit snowy Cambridge, she doesn’t expect to discover the body of a student – arms outstretched in the act of smearing bloody angel wings on the chapel’s floor.

Suddenly, Poppy is faced with the possibility that the one closest to her heart might be the one committing the most malicious of crimes.

Dodging porters and police, dreading what she might find, Poppy follows the clues left by a murderer bent on revenge…

Long-hidden secrets are chillingly revealed, an avenging angel seeks forgiveness and red-hot vengeance must be quelled in the amazing new Poppy Sinclair thriller.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dead Jealous. It got me out of the book slump that I was in, but then along came Dead Silent and I loved it a hell of a lot more. I found Dead Silent even more engaging. I was completely captivated by the plot and couldn’t wait to find out what was happening. It didn’t take me long to read at all, no matter how much I tried to slow down my reading process.

I’ve seen comparisons between Poppy Sinclair and Nancy Drew and I can see where people are coming from. I used to love the Nancy Drew books. I do think that Poppy has the edge slightly. I’ve just grown to love her as a character.

The plot of Dead Silent is utterly thrilling. I don’t want to say too much about it, because I don’t want to ruin it. Everyone hates a spoiler. It may not be the most original idea you might come across, but that didn’t matter to me. It was well written, there were intriguing surprises and the characters were brilliant.

I can’t wait for more books from Sharon Jones. I really hope they involve Poppy Sinclair though, as I’m growing attached to this character, and can’t wait to read what she does next!

Would I recommend it?:
Of course! 4.5 stars! I’m torn between giving it 4.5 stars and 5 stars. I’m thinking if I give it 4.5, then if there’s a 3rd Poppy Sinclair book to come I’ve got room to award much more awesomeness. This series just keeps getting better and better!
