Ten Books That Will Be In My Beach Bag This Summer

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s list is the Top Ten Books That Will Be In My Beach Bag This Summer. The list is going to be a combination of 5 books I’ve already read that give off a wonderful summer vibe and 5 books I’m yet to read, but aim to this Summer!

I’ve defined my summer reads as mostly light, quick reads which you can’t put down. As ever, click on the book image to get to the Goodreads page!

6 books that I’ve already read that are Summer Sizzlers

Twenty Boy SummerSarah Ockler– I adored this book. I think it would be perfect for the beach. It’s hard to put down, and captures your attention.

The Undomestic GoddessSophie KinsellaSophie Kinsella is one of my favourite chick-lit authors. I find her books so easy to read. They’re usually funny, and touching. I think this is one of her best.

Anna And The French KissStephanie Perkins– This is just a cute, contemporary YA read.

Beauty QueensLibba Bray– Whilst this wasn’t my favourite read ever, I think it’s a good beach read. Full of teenage drama and satire.

One Perfect SummerPaige ToonPaige Toon is another author that I adore for summer- like reads.  Her books tend to be a bit deeper than your average chick-lit. I’d recommend any of her books for the beach, to be honest!

Second Chance Summer- Morgan Matson– A perfect, emotional Summer read.

4 books that I think will be Summer Sizzlers

The Summer I Turned PrettyJenny Han– I’m yet to read this, I know… I’m really behind! I’ve heard good things about this series though.

The Summer I Became A NerdLeah Rae Miller- Here’s another Summery book that I’ve had for a while but not got around to. Maybe this Summer?

BittersweetSarah Ockler- This book has been on my radar for a while now. I’m hoping that by putting on it a list, it’ll encourage me to read it!

Finding Cinderella- Colleen Hoover– I adore the Hopeless series, so I need to fit in this novella!

What will you be adding to your beach bag this Summer? Please feel free to leave your links to your Top Ten posts and I shall stop by!

  1. I’m really excited to get my hands on Twenty Boy Summer! Also, I haven’t read anything by Libba Bray that hasn’t been a paranormal historical novel, so Beauty Queens sounds interesting! Great list!

  2. I’m so excited to read To All The Boys I Loved Before by Jenny Han! I might even break my habit of reading fantasy novels while at the beach just to read it.

  3. Why is it that our summer reads are so much prettier than those for the winter? I love your list and totally agree that a summer read should be lighter and impossible to put down and always accompanied by an equally pretty drink! Happy Summer reading Chrissi.

    • They really are. They tend to be a lot lighter too. I think it’s important to read lighter, addictive reads for a beach read. It just seems to make sense. I hope you have a great Summer of reading!

  4. I definitely agree with Anna and the French Kiss, and The Summer I Turned Pretty looks really good. Thanks for stopping by. 🙂

  5. Twenty Boy Summer, the Summer series, and ANNA are some of my all-time faves! Happy to see they made your list. Sounds like I need some Sophie Kinsella in my life. Enjoy all your summer reading adventures!

  6. Great picks. I have heard great things about The Summer I Became A Nerd, have wanted to read that one myself. Personally, I loved the Summer series and really want to reread that one soon.I am looking forward to reading Morgan Matson’s new book, she hasn’t let me down yet. I hope you manage to get to them all, here’s mine.

  7. Ugh, I want to read Bittersweet, Second Chance Summer & One Perfect Summer so badly, but I don’t have enough money to buy all. Oh well, they all seem like great books, specifically OPS, as I love a good, deeply emotional read.

  8. The contemporary genre has so many book titles with Summer in them! I think I should try to read at least one this season, and your list has given me a few to ponder.

  9. So happy you loved Anna and the French Kiss! That’s one of my favourite books ever. I definitely want to know your thoughts on Sarah Ockler’s novel! I’ve heard she’s an amazing author. Great list! ❤

  11. You’re list looks great. I always love checking your blog out because I always find books that I’ve not heard of but know I am going to like!
Anna & the French Kiss is on my list too. Have had that book for song long I am determined to read it!
Twenty Boy Summer and Second Chance Summer both look really good, they are being added to my Must Read list immediately!

  12. Great list. Anna and the French Kiss is one of my favorite books, and I’ve been wanting to read Beauty Queens by Libba Bray for so long. I’ll have to add that to my beach bag this summer.

  13. Great list! Beauty Queens is on my list to read. I have read everything else Libba Bray has done, but somehow missed that one. And read Anna and the Frnech Kiss soon so you can read about Lola and then Isla!

  14. You have some really good ones on your list! I totally agree with Twenty Boy Summer and Second Chance Summer (though they both made me cry lol). I’d agree with Beauty Queens as well. I never finished it because it was too over the top for me, but it’s definitely the kind of book I’d peg as a beach read.

  15. I haven’t read any of these, but I am dying to read Anna and the French Kiss and Beauty Queens. I hope I get to read them soon. And I am planning on reading Second Chance Summer this summer. I need to check out the other books on your list.
