Die For Me

How did I get it?:
I bought it!

My life had always been blissfully, wonderfully normal. But it only took one moment to change everything.

Suddenly, my sister, Georgia and I were orphans. We put our lives into storage and moved to Paris to live with my grandparents. And I knew my shattered heart, my shattered life, would never feel normal again. Then I met Vincent.

Mysterious, sexy and unnervingly charming, Vincent Delacroix appeared out of nowhere and swept me off my feet. Just like that, I was in danger of losing my heart all over again. But I was ready to let it happen.

Of course, nothing is ever that easy. Because Vincent is no normal human. He has a terrifying destiny, one that puts his life at risk every day. He also has enemies. . .immortal, murderous enemies who are determined to destroy him and all of his kind.

I kept on seeing this book pop up as recommended for me by Amazon. I read the synopsis and found myself instantly intrigued. I’m glad that I took notice of that recommendation, because I thought Die For Me was a great book that was incredibly easy to read. It’s perfect for those readers that love romantic reads with a little slice of paranormal.

Die For Me centres around Kate and her sister Georgia. They lose their parents in a horrible accident. Kate and Georgia move to Paris to live with their grandparents. We learn how much Kate misses her parents (obviously), she feels the best way to fight the pain is to sit and read. So whenever she doesn’t want her mind to wander too far she decides to immerse herself in a book. She finds a café where she loves to sit, have a coffee and read. It is in the café that Kate meets Vincent. You might see where this is going… Vincent has a dark secret. He’s not exactly human. Vincent and his friends are Revenants.  Revenants are people that are granted eternal life when they have died saving another. This might sound amazing, but Revenants are compelled to save other people. They die each time, but after three days they wake up again completely healed.

Vincent and Kate are instantly attracted to one another (again, obviously!) They have a lot of hurdles in their way. Their relationship is going well once everything is out in the open.  However, when Kate witnesses some of Vincent’s family risking their lives to save another, it hits her hard that she is going to have to cope with Vincent dying. Several times. Kate isn’t sure if she can cope with this, having just lost her parents. She’s not sure that she has the strength to cope with it, even if she knows that he will be coming back to life.

I was really impressed by Die For Me. I can’t believe that this was Amy Plum’s debut novel. I think she’s set up a fantastic, intriguing series with some great mythology to explore. I’m excited to see how the world continues to build throughout the series. It did remind me in places of Twilight, but I honestly think that this series will be better. I look forward to continuing it!

Would I recommend it?:
Of course!
