Top Ten Books I’ve Read So Far This Year

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful The Broke and The Bookish. This week I’m listing the Top Ten Books I’ve Read So Far this year. Oh my goodness, this was hard work. I have read some good books so far this year, so I’ve had quite a few to choose from. With the help of Goodreads, I looked at what I’ve rated highly so far this year!

As ever, click on the book image to get to the Goodreads page! The title links to my review, if you’re interested in reading my thoughts!

A Kiss In The DarkCat Clarke– I rated this book five stars, because I thought it was incredible. Cat Clarke is one of my auto-buy authors. I adore her stories, but at the same time, they usually destroy me! I can’t say too much about this one, as it would completely ruin the story. If you’re a fan of gritty writing, then I’d definitely recommend it!

The MadnessAlison Rattle- I rated this book five stars. Alison Rattle is an amazing writer. Her writing is beautiful and I could easily picture the scenes and I fell in love with the main character Marnie.

TroubleNon Pratt– This book pulled me in from the start and kept me gripped throughout!

BirdCrystal Chan– I rated this book five stars. Bird is a wonderful, middle-grade book that I think people of all ages would enjoy. It’s beautifully written. Jewel is an amazing character.

Everneath Brodi Ashton– This year I’m trying to start and finish some more series. Everneath was on my radar to start this year. I’m glad I did, as I thoroughly enjoyed the first book! I hope to continue with the series soon!

Ignite MeTahereh Mafi– I was pleased with the ending of this series. I rated it five stars, it was my favourite book in the trilogy. I found it gripping to the very end. Wonderful writing.

The One Plus One Jojo Moyes– I really love this author’s writing. I was pleased to be able to read her newest book early, and I thoroughly enjoyed it, rating it five stars. Jojo writes such real characters.

The Shock Of The Fall- Nathan Filer– This book is incredibly emotional, but powerful too. It was a five star read for me.

Liv, ForeverAmy Talkington– An accomplished debut novel. I was really impressed!

Dead SilentSharon Jones– Oh, I loved this book! It was a great mystery with wonderful writing.

Other notable mentions go to Shine by Candy Gourlay, A Room Full Of Chocolate by Jane Elson, Hollow Pike and Say Her Name by James Dawson and Cress by Marissa Meyer.

    • I was surprised about how much I enjoyed Liv, Forever. It was a great read! Bird is a lot more grown up than most middle grade. I hope you enjoy both of these books if you get around to them.

  1. With the exception of Everneath, I haven’t read any of these, but I’m excited to get started on your recommendations, especially A Kiss in the Dark. That’s the great thing about TTT, isn’t it, being able to be exposed to new books!

    My TTT

  2. Wow, I haven’t read a single book on your list Chrissi! I’m avoiding Jojo Moyes after my sob-fest with Me Before You, I’ll be reading Trouble later this month for the YALC readathon and the rest are either on my shelves or on my Kindle waiting to be read 🙂

    • Ooh, that’s unusual! I’m not surprised that you had a sob-fest with Me Before You, that book is devastating! I really enjoyed Trouble. I hope that you like it too! 🙂 I’m glad that you’ve got the others waiting to be read! 😀

  3. I haven’t really read any of these really, (except Everneath, which wasn’t for me), but I REALLY need to read the Shatter Me series! Everyone I know has been going absolutely mad for it, so I need to just go read it.

  4. I haven’t heard of any of these books, besides Ignite Me because I’m starting Shatter Me soon. But all of these covers are amazing (sorry this is the first thing that popped in my head) Like the cover for Bird, and The Madness. I definitely want to check out those two now!

  5. Thanks for visiting my TTT! I’m so glad I visited yours, and saw that you love Jojo Moyes. I’m about 15 pages from finishing Me Before You and it’s killing me! I can’t wait to get home tonight and finish the book. I HAVE to know what happens with Will!

  6. Nice picks. I’ve actually not read any of these but have a lot of them on my current TBR list so I am happy they made your list. Trouble and Bird are ones I am hoping to get to very very soon, I hope I love them! 🙂

  7. I ‘ve always wanted to read Tahereh Mafi’s books! 🙂 people in school keep talking about it, and i feel like the only one who hasn’t read it yet haha! Great TT post 😀 the books you chose were interesting.

  8. Okay so I have not read ANY of your picks yet!! That’s bad, but it’s also kind of exciting because there’s a ton of new favourite books to explore. I especially want to read the Shatter Me series.

  9. Trouble is on my TBR, I am really excited to read that one. The others (except Ignite Me, which I read and loved!) hadn’t been on my radar, but now I have a whole new list of books added! The Madness, The Shock of the Fall, and Liv, Forever are all now on my list! Thanks for sharing them 🙂

  10. As always I LOVE checking out your TTT list because it is always full of new books for me to check out. I like that our tastes are similar so I know that I am always going to find a good book on your list. I haven’t read any of these, but they look great. My TBR list has just grown substantially! Haha, great list! 🙂

  11. There are so many books on your list that are on my TBR, ugh I need to read them already. And the ones that weren’t on my TBR are now – thanks Chrissi 😉
