How did I get it?:
It was a present from my sister, Beth!
Now that Nikki has rescued Jack, all she wants is to be with him and graduate high school. But Cole tricked Nikki into feeding off him, and she’s begun the process of turning into an Everliving herself… which means she must feed on a Forfeit soon — or die.
Terrified for her survival, Nikki and Jack begin a desperate attempt to reverse the process using any means possible. Even Cole, who they expected to fight them at every turn, has become an unlikely ally — but how long can it last? Nikki needs to feed on Cole to survive, Cole needs Nikki to gain the throne in the Everneath, Jack needs Nikki because she is everything to him — and together, they must travel back to the Underworld to undo Nikki’s fate and make her mortal once more. But Cole isn’t the only one with plans for Nikki: the Queen has not forgotten Nikki’s treachery, and she wants her destroyed for good. Will Nikki be forced to spend eternity in the Underworld, or does she have what it takes to bring down the Everneath once and for all?
I remember finishing Everbound when my sister and fellow blogger Beth was visiting. I immediately told her I wanted to read Evertrue as soon as I could, so she kindly bought me a copy for my birthday. I’ve only just got around to it but I’m so glad I fit it in during my series sprint in October. I devoured the first two books in the series and was really worried that I wasn’t going to like Evertrue. This is especially because I had heard very mixed reviews of the last book. However, I needn’t have worried, I really enjoyed the series finale. It took twists that I did not expect! I can’t wait to see what Brodi Ashton does next.
It’s so hard to review a final book in the series when you know some readers haven’t started it yet or some are currently reading it. I won’t go into the plot, but I will say that this book seemed like the ultimate showdown. It felt like Nikki vs Everneath. I absolutely loved how fast paced the story was.
I’m not a huge fan of love triangles in books. They just become too samey and boring for me. I do usually end up rooting for one pairing or another and this did happen. I will say though, the characters are fantastic. I’m not the biggest fan of Cole, but he really shone in this particular book. I couldn’t work him out and I was so sceptical about everything that he did. I really think this is a sign of great writing though. It’s not often I doubt a character as much as I doubted Cole.
Evertrue is action packed, full of twists and turns and fabulous characters! I highly recommend this series if you’re into mythology!
Would I recommend it?:
