Received from Templar Publishing, many thanks to them!
Teenager Laura gets the shock of her life when she moves to rural Derbyshire and finds the ghost of her dead father in her grandmother’s home. At first Laura is overjoyed to see him, but as time passes she begins to wonder why her dad is finding it so difficult to move on, and why her mother still refuses to talk about his death.
What is the secret that has been kept from her for all these years?
I received this book via Hot Key Books so many thanks to them for sending me a copy of No Going Back. It was an incredibly sweet read which didn’t take long to devour at all.
The plot of No Going Back centres around fourteen year old Laura. She moves with her mother to look after her grandmother, after her grandmother becomes unwell. Laura’s father died when she was young. Laura gets a visit from her grandfather in a very unusual way.
I thought No Going Back was a moving story. The author dealt with the issues involved in the book in a very realistic manner. The plot wasn’t as fast-paced as I expected, but I did feel immersed in Laura’s story. The interactions with Laura and her father were emotional. Laura as a character is a young and bright character. At times she could be a little selfish, but this was to be expected giving what had happened to her. Laura’s father was completely different to her mother. It was interesting to read about the different family dynamics especially Laura’s Grandmother who was developed beautifully over the course of the story.
This book really makes you think about loss and deals with it in such a realistic and easy to read way! Well worth taking a look at!
