How did I get it?:
A present from a colleague!

Previously read by the same author:
Die For Me

Synopsis:

Kate and Vincent have overcome the odds and at last they are together in Paris, the city of lights and love.

As their romance deepens there’s one question they can’t ignore: How are they supposed to be together if Vincent can’t resist sacrificing himself to save others? Although Vincent promises that he’ll do whatever it takes to lead a normal life with Kate, will that mean letting innocent people die? When a new and surprising enemy reveals itself, Kate realizes that even more may be at stake—and that Vincent’s immortality is in jeopardy.

Thoughts:

I read this book a while ago but for some reason I’m only just getting around to reviewing it! I really enjoyed Die For Me and thought it was an incredibly interesting concept. I really like books based in Paris and this one gives me a feel for Gothic Paris. I feel compelled to say, that this series isn’t necessarily the most incredibly written book. The writing itself isn’t particularly mature, but it’s enjoyable and so easy to read. I couldn’t help but be immersed in the story and I’m very much looking forward to seeing how the series concludes!

Without saying too much (very conscious of spoilers for those that haven’t read the first book!), Kate and Vincent’s story continues with them trying to find a way to live together without either of them suffering. However, it being a paranormal young adult read, it isn’t going to be easy for them. There are, of course, dark forces getting in the way.

I do think that this book has particularly picked up the pace with the plot. Kate in particular has developed really well. I love how kick-ass she is becoming. I’m all for female characters being able to stand up for themselves.

I have to admit, this is a book that I would usually steer away from, but I’ve been gripped by this series, and I truly can’t wait to see how it continues.

Would I recommend it?:
Yes! 3.5 stars

A very good middle book in a trilogy. Good character development and fast-paced plot!
