How did I get it?:
I bought it!

Becky Brandon (née Bloomwood) has stars in her eyes. She and her daughter, Minnie, have joined husband Luke in LA—city of herbal smoothies, multimillion-dollar yoga retreats, and the lure of celebrity. Luke is there to help manage the career of famous actress Sage Seymour—and Becky is convinced she is destined to be Sage’s personal stylist, and go from there to every A-list celebrity in Hollywood! But things become complicated when Becky joins the team of Sage’s archrival. How will charming and supportive Luke deal with this conflict? Is it possible that what Becky wants most will end up hurting those she loves most? Shopaholic fans old and new will devour Sophie Kinsella’s newest adventure!

I thought Sophie Kinsella had finished with the Shopaholic series, but clearly not… Shopaholic To The Stars follows Becky as she takes on LA.

I have loved the Shopaholic series, but as soon as Mini Shopaholic came out, I began to get a bit tired of Becky’s ridiculous, unrealistic escapades. I thought I’d try the latest instalment to see if Becky would make improvements and develop as a character, but I actually found her to be quite selfish and rarely with her child! Hmm… It’s such a shame that the series has turned out this way, as I initially loved the series. It may not be the most intellectually challenging, but it was fun. That fun element isn’t there any more for me.

The ending is incredibly sudden and sets up for MORE Shopaholic. I’m just not sure how much further this series can go, because it’s already seeming too much. I’m not sure if I will read it!

Would I recommend it?:
It’s not for me!

I’m disappointed with the latest instalment in this series. It may be worth checking out if you’re a Sophie Kinsella fan, but for me Becky’s story should have ended a long time ago…

  1. I agree this series should have ended already. I enjoyed the first book but then it was like she never learned her lesson and regressed in every new installment. It’s disappointing to hear this book is just more of the same.

  2. I’ve only read a couple of Sophie Kinsella’s books and they were both stand alones. I’ve Got Your Number was really cute if you haven’t read that one yet. I would like to read a few of the Shopaholic books, but I will keep this in mind.

  3. I love Sophie Kinsella, but I read all of her books except for this series. I’m just not interested, especially when she keeps adding to it. It sort of loses momentum after a while and it feels like cashcow milking.

  4. Oh wow, I didn’t realise this series was still going! I stopped reading a few books in, because I found Becky to be quite vapid and irritating at times :/ I have read a couple of her standalone novels and really liked them though, so I think I’ll stick to those!
