This week’s Fairy Tale The Mouse, The Bird and The Sausage was a short and strange little tale. It almost reads like a fable. It involves the characters (if you can call a sausage a character?!) setting up home together. They all have their individual jobs. The Bird goes out to the forest to get wood for the fire. The Mouse gets the water from the well, makes the fire and lays the table. The Sausage deals with the cooking. They are all getting along happily and living within their means. One day whilst the Bird is out completing his job, he speaks to another bird and finds out he’s got a rough deal with the jobs. He’s definitely doing more than the rest. The Bird demands a change, but when they draw straws it’s only the Mouse and the Sausage that change roles. Soon, it’s clear why they had the roles they did!
I really liked this fairy tale! It was fun and easy to read and came with a moral about being satisfied with what you have already.
