Every Sunday (hopefully) I shall be posting a personal post about my life as a primary school teacher. I currently work at a primary school teaching Year 2 (6-7 year olds). My training posts on this subject were really successful and so therapeutic for me, therefore I’ve decided to continue posting on the topic. I will not be naming any children, or the school where I work. If personal posts aren’t your thing then feel free to skip these posts. I won’t mind! Bookish goodness returns as normal Monday-Saturday!
3 weeks ago, if you’d have told me that my class would have created wonderful poems to show to their parents, I would have laughed and continued rocking in the corner. However, with some support and some very hard work on their part (and mine 😉 ) they created some beautiful poetry work. I’m still not overly keen on teaching poetry and I’m thrilled it’s over for now… but I’m super pleased with their efforts. So pleased that I’ve stuck their poetry up on the windows and door of my classroom. I’m hoping others can see and appreciate it!
I’m excited about getting into a new unit of English work. It’s all about newspaper reports now, but newspaper reports through a story. Much more exciting for this bookworm! 🙂
I’m also teaching shape in Maths within the next week. Shape can be so tricky, but I’m hoping for some fun and exciting, practical activities for my little ones. We’ll also be starting rehearsals for our Christmas nativity. Fun times ahead…
