Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It’s all about love of lists, love of literature and bringing bookish people together.
This week’s list is about our favourite book quotes. I’m not one for remember book quotes so I had the help of Goodreads for this one!
“You can only actually help someone who wants to be helped.” – Jojo Moyes, Me Before You
“You can be okay again. Just a different kind of okay than before.”- Emery Lord, The Names They Gave Us
“If you want to know what a man’s like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.” – J.K. Rowling Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire
“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”- Neil Gaiman, Coraline
“You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose. You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And YOU are the one who’ll decide where to go…” -Dr Seuss, Oh The Places You’ll Go!
“Love is like the wind, you can’t see it but you can feel it.” -Nicholas Sparks, A Walk To Remember
“What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it. That doesn’t happen much, though.” – J.D Salinger, The Catcher In The Rye
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” -Dr Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut
“Sometimes people are beautiful.
Not in looks.
Not in what they say.
Just in what they are.” – Markus Zusak, I Am The Messenger
“You don’t love someone because they’re perfect, you love them in spite of the fact that they’re not.” -Jodi Picoult, My Sister’s Keeper
I absolutely loved looking up bookish quotes from some of my most favourite books. I absolutely love the quotes from Dr Seuss. What a genius that man was!
Yours is the second list I’ve seen that “Coraline” quote!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen it before, but it’s really sweet. 🙂
Also, seeing a “Me Before You” quote on your list has (yet again) reminded me that’s one read that remains on my TBR.
Happy Top Ten Tuesday, Chrissi.
I love Coraline! Such a great book. Yes, yes, yes to Me Before You. I think you’ll really enjoy it.
I love that quote from Harry Potter so much ❤ can't go wrong with Harry Potter
I completely agree! ❤
I never read Coraline, but looking at that quote, I may have to change my mind and put it back on my tbr!
Great TTT 😊
It’s such a special book. 🙂 Thanks Lena!
The only ones on your list I’ve read are Oh The Places You’ll Go! and The Catcher in the Rye. I know I left a bunch of great quotes off my own list, that I only belatedly remembered afterwards.
Same! I keep seeing ones I love on other lists.
Love the Seuss ones! And Coraline and the Sparks one are pretty great too. 🙂
I agree about Seuss- kids books or not, he had a lot to say with those quotes.
He really did. I find so much from his words!
Lovely quotes! Glad to see a quote from J.D. Salinger on the list. 🙂
My Top 10

I adore that Catcher in the Rye quote! ❤ It's such an accurate description of how it feels to read favorite books.
Totally ❤
I have never read A walk to Remember, but without fail, no matter how many time sI watch it. I bawl my eyes out. WIthout fail. This was a hard one for me to get into, so I did something entirely different 🙂
It’s so sad ❤
Any list with Gaiman and Dr Seuss automatically wins the mystery gift in my opinion.
Lynn 😀
Ha! Thank you 😀
That’s my all-time favorite Harry Potter quote. It’s so very true.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
❤ I completely agree!

I LOVE that Markus Zusak quote. Both I am the Messenger and The Book Thief packed so many punches when I read them and it amazes me how vastly different the books are.
They really are. It’s like it’s not the same author!
These are all such wonderful quotes! ❤
Thank you! ❤
