A Week In The Life Of A Primary School Teacher- A VERY bookish week!

Every Sunday (hopefully) I shall be posting a personal post about my life as a primary school teacher. I currently work at a primary school teaching 7-9 year olds. I have worked for two years with 6-7 years, 1 year with 7-9 and now I’m returning to my favourite age! My training posts on this subject were really successful and so therapeutic for me, therefore I’ve decided to continue posting on the topic. I will not be naming any children, or the school where I work. If personal posts aren’t your thing then feel free to skip these posts. I won’t mind! Bookish goodness returns as normal Monday-Saturday!

This week has been another great one! I’m so happy to be back! 🙂 I’m loving that I’m having a run of weeks at the moment that make me really thankful for the job I have.

Something very exciting happened this week! I run a book club with the older children in the school and we’ve been reading a 300 page book by a popular author (I can’t say who otherwise it will identify the school!) We finished the book and sent a video review to the author on Twitter. He acknowledged it and even sent them a tweet back. They were absolutely made up! I was super happy too. It was so lovely that he took the time to acknowledge my book club’s work. 🙂 See, the internet is great sometimes!

I’ve also (and I never thought I’d say this!) been super impressed with my writers this week. We’ve been writing letters and some of their work was incredible! My moaning and persistence has clearly paid off. Long may it continue!

I can’t believe that by the end of the coming week, I’ll be halfway through this half term. Spring goes by really quickly. I’m trying to make the most of my class because before I know it, they’ll be through Spring Term with only one remaining after. I do know that I need to be a bit harsher this week. I’m thinking of bringing back Class Dojo as that worked brilliantly for me over the past few years. I will just have it as a classroom incentive, rather than a communication tool with parents. Food for thought, for today!
