Top Ten Tuesday- Page To Screen

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It’s all about love of lists, love of literature and bringing bookish people together.

This week’s list is a page to screen freebie. We can talk about anything page to screen related! I’m not often a fan of adaptations, especially when they are from my favourite book but there have been some good ones and I’m going to list my favourites.

Matilda– One of my favourites! I love the book, but I equally love the movie.

The Witches– Another Roald Dahl… I think this was so well cast. I used to love watching this!

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory– I know, I know. I’m a Roald Dahl fan girl, but the older version has my heart! ❤

The Help– I was worried about this book being made into a movie but I thought it was so well done.

Me Before You– This was one of my biggest worries as it’s one of my favourite books, but they did it well!

Harry Potter– There may have been some bits missing, but I thought in the main part, the movies were fabulous.

Love, Simon– I adore Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda and I was worried about this one too, but it was SO good.

Little Women– I love the March sisters! So well cast.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas– I read the book to my class last year and I was reminded by how I prefer the movie. Rare!

The Wizard Of Oz– You can’t beat this movie.

What are your favourites? Feel free to leave a link to your post and I’ll stop by!

  1. “Little Women” is always a favorite story of mine (though I’ve yet to read the book!), and I liked “The Help” quite a lot. Didn’t make it through the book before the film (and I never picked it up again), but what I read was good. Now you’ve made me want to re-watch the film! 😀

  2. It’s amazing how many book adaptions there truly are! I always forget about the big movies that are children books adaptions like The Wizard of Oz and Matilda.

  3. Harry Potter is one of my favorite adaptations, but I guess that’s little me talking. I really liked The Help, and Charlie and the Chocolate factory is the first book I ever read. Great list!

  4. I agree about adaptations as I’m not often a fan either. And I included The Help in my top ten too. I think Matilda is one of my favourites too – book and film. Also the Harry Potter books and films!

  5. I also thought they did good with Me Before You and The Help. I really need to watch Love, Simon. I am happy to hear that you liked the movie adaptation. Have you read and watched The Hate You Give and Gone Girl? Those two would be on my list. Great list, Chrissi.

  6. These are all so wonderful. I loved Love Simon, and thought the movie version of Me Before You was really well done… but really, I love all of these!
