A Week In The Life Of A Primary School Teacher- My 5th Year begins!

Every Sunday (hopefully) I shall be posting a personal post about my life as a primary school teacher. I currently work at a primary school teaching 7-9 year olds. I have worked for 2 years with 6-7 years, 2 years with 7-9 and I’m now  starting the third year of teaching 7-9 years old. My training posts on this subject were really successful and so therapeutic for me, therefore I’ve decided to continue posting on the topic. I will not be naming any children, or the school where I work. If personal posts aren’t your thing then feel free to skip these posts. I won’t mind! Bookish goodness returns as normal Monday-Saturday!

Those that have been here for a while…can you believe I’ve started my 5th year of teaching? It has flown by. I’ve got a busy year ahead with some ideas of how I’d love to develop my teaching and the start of my Masters degree whilst teaching full time.

I went back to school on Thursday and had such a lovely time with my new class. I know it’s pretty much the honeymoon period, but they were so well behaved it was adorable. I think there are potentially a few that could push my buttons after a while, but on a whole they’ve already made a good impression on me. Let’s see what happens this week when we begin ‘real’ work. Ha! It’s very much team building activities at the moment so they haven’t really had to sit down and write or do Maths/other curriculum areas. By next week, I would’ve taught ‘proper’ lessons so we’ll see what their behaviour is like then. I do want to remain hopeful though! Next week, I’m going to ensure I keep up high expectations for behaviour to ensure they keep behaving like the little angels they have been. I don’t want to get complacent because they’ve been fabulous so far.

I’ve decided to keep up having lunch with the children, because last year, I built so many positive relationships which was so important to me. 🙂  I’m so happy to be back with the children and can’t wait to spend the year with them!
