A Week In The Life Of A Primary School Teacher- Listening Skills?

Every Sunday (hopefully) I shall be posting a personal post about my life as a primary school teacher. I currently work at a primary school teaching 7-9 year olds. I have worked for 2 years with 6-7 years, 2 years with 7-9 and I’m now starting the third year of teaching 7-9 years old. My training posts on this subject were really successful and so therapeutic for me, therefore I’ve decided to continue posting on the topic. I will not be naming any children, or the school where I work. If personal posts aren’t your thing then feel free to skip these posts. I won’t mind! Bookish goodness returns as normal Monday-Saturday!

This week has been a long one! I don’t know if I was exhausted from the week before, but I found this week to be a struggle. Don’t get me wrong, my class are (mainly) very good, but their listening skills have definitely slipped this week. I need to be on that straight away this week. I’ve had so many compliments about what a lovely class they are and we need to definitely live up to that expectation!

I definitely have to kick start our fundraising this week for the school. I haven’t had all of the children in the team at school as they’ve been on a residential trip. I’m definitely going to meet them tomorrow and get the ball rolling. So much to be done, if we want to raise lots of money!

There’s more scrutiny this week at work. I’m trying to not let it get to me. The reason why we’re having so much, is to improve after our ‘lovely’ visit from inspectors last year. I’ve just got to keep doing what I do and improve my practice whenever I can. I’m never one to think that I can’t improve. That’s the thing about working in education, you’re constantly learning yourself and I love that.

As for blogging, I have a few posts coming up this week. I definitely need to get in a better groove, but life is kicking my ass at the moment and I don’t have a lot of reading time. I’m glad I don’t stress to much about that now. There’s really no point! I have learnt to let it go if I don’t have a daily post out. I daily posted for almost 6 years and that was an incredible achievement, but I started to lose the excitement around blogging. Now I like to blog, when I want to and that’s okay with me! 🙂

Have a great week all!
