Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s list are ten books on our Spring TBR. Ten Series That I Have Quit!

toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s list are the Top Ten bookish things we want to quit, or have quit. We could be creative with this list, but all of my creativeness has seem to have disappeared! I thought I’d look at ten series that I have given up on. Me being me, I’m quite happy to be persuaded to continue if it’s really a book series you love…so let me know!

As ever, click on the book image to get to Goodreads!

Matched- Ally Condie

Matched (Matched, #1)

I started the second book in the trilogy, but I just couldn’t get on with it. I found it unoriginal and not very exciting to read.

Eve- Anna Carey

Eve (Eve, #1)

I thought this book was okay, but I’m not excited enough about it to continue reading.

The Pledge- Kimberly Derting

The Pledge (The Pledge, #1)

Again, another series I could take or leave, so I decided to leave…

Vampire Academy- Richelle Mead

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)

I’m sorry! I know this series is really popular but it just didn’t do it for me. I don’t think I could commit to the rest of the series when I found the first book a bit dull.

Across The Universe- Beth Revis

Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1)

I thought this series was going to be my kinda thing, but it wasn’t. It was okay, I’m just not inspired to continue.

The Darkest Minds- Alexandra Bracken

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1)

I really wanted to like this series too, but I didn’t connect with the characters at all.

The Selection- Kiera Cass

The Selection (The Selection, #1)

I was happy with it finishing with The One, I just have no interest in the rest of the books!

The 5th Wave- Rick Yancey

The 5th Wave (The 5th Wave, #1)

The 5th Wave took me ages to get into and then hasn’t really stayed with me, so I’ve decided not to continue!

Partials- Dan Wells

Partials (The Partials Sequence, #1)

I remember liking Partials but it’s been so long since I’ve read it that I’ve lost interest in the books!

Rebel Belle- Rachel Hawkins

Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle, #1)

I enjoyed Rebel Belle but I’m not really interested in the next book, especially after very mixed reviews!

Do you think I should continue with any of these series? Which bookish things have you quit? Feel free to leave me your Top Ten lists and I’ll stop by!

The Ones That Got Away #3

cooltext1691231440

This feature is going to showcase some recent reads that I haven’t fully reviewed. This may be because I didn’t finish the book or that I didn’t have enough to say to warrant a full and fair review of a book that I’m sure others will absolutely adore. I figure this way the books will be highlighted and someone somewhere might find the right book for them!

 The Pledge- Kimberly Derting

The Pledge (The Pledge, #1)

In the violent country of Ludania, the classes are strictly divided by the language they speak. The smallest transgression, like looking a member of a higher class in the eye while they are speaking their native tongue, results in immediate execution. Seventeen-year-old Charlaina has always been able to understand the languages of all classes, and she’s spent her life trying to hide her secret. The only place she can really be free is the drug-fueled underground clubs where people go to shake off the oppressive rules of the world they live in. It’s there that she meets a beautiful and mysterious boy named Max who speaks a language she’s never heard before . . . and her secret is almost exposed.

Charlie is intensely attracted to Max, even though she can’t be sure where his real loyalties lie. As the emergency drills give way to real crisis and the violence escalates, it becomes clear that Charlie is the key to something much bigger: her country’s only chance for freedom from the terrible power of a deadly regime.

 The Darkest Minds- Alexandra Bracken

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1)

When Ruby woke up on her tenth birthday, something about her had changed. Something alarming enough to make her parents lock her in the garage and call the police. Something that gets her sent to Thurmond, a brutal government “rehabilitation camp.” She might have survived the mysterious disease that’s killed most of America’s children, but she and the others have emerged with something far worse: frightening abilities they cannot control.

Now sixteen, Ruby is one of the dangerous ones.

When the truth comes out, Ruby barely escapes Thurmond with her life. Now she’s on the run, desperate to find the one safe haven left for kids like her—East River. She joins a group of kids who escaped their own camp. Liam, their brave leader, is falling hard for Ruby. But no matter how much she aches for him, Ruby can’t risk getting close. Not after what happened to her parents.

When they arrive at East River, nothing is as it seems, least of all its mysterious leader. But there are other forces at work, people who will stop at nothing to use Ruby in their fight against the government. Ruby will be faced with a terrible choice, one that may mean giving up her only chance at a life worth living.

The safest thing to do would be to fail, to go back to a dead-end life, no future. But Luna is starting to hope for something better, and hope is a dangerous thing…

15 for 2015

In 2014, I highlighted 14 series that were on my radar- either to finish or to start! I’ve decided to do the same for this year as I think it’s a great way to encourage myself to finish off series, or start series that I already own and don’t need to buy! I can totally justify this as I finished many series last year doing the same thing…so I’m ready to begin more! 😉

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you’re adding to your shelves, be it buying or borrowing. From ‘real’ books you’ve purchased, a book you’ve borrowed, a book you’ve been given or an e-book they can all be shared! This week I have a bit of a smaller haul. I’m not complaining, I’ve got FAR too many books on my TBR. I couldn’t resist these pretties though.
