14 series that were on my radar… How did I do?

Series that I completed:

(Click on the book cover for my review, if I’ve read it already!)

-Mara Dyer-

I have so much love for Michelle Hodkin’s writing. This series is seriously crazy, but yet still so readable. It’s messed with my mind, and I although the ending wasn’t exactly what I wanted I still absolutely adore this series.

-Shatter Me-

I’ve absolutely been sucked into this world. Ignite Me was a decent ending to the series!

-Under The Never Sky-

I haven’t loved this series as much as others I’ve read, but I was still intrigued enough to see how it all ends. Into The Still Blue was a solid ending!

-Chaos Walking-

I can’t believe I managed to complete this beast of a series! Very pleased I did though. It was incredibly enjoyable. I ❤ Patrick Ness.

I started and finished this series in 2014! I loved it.

Series I got up to date with…

-The Lunar Chronicles-

Series incomplete:

I read Matched, but I just could not get on with Crossed, so I stopped reading! Not bad out of a selection of so many series on my radar in 2014!

I could not get into these books!

Series that I wanted to start and have done so!:

Soon I shall publish the series on my radar for 2015. It’s been good to have this to look back on and remember the series that I wanted to start and complete!

Me Month March

I’m so excited to let you know about my Me Month March. I’ve been a good girl and got up to date with all my ARCs, so I have published or will publish everything I had for March. This means, I have free reign to read what I want to read for the rest of this month.

It might seem silly to be so excited by this, but since starting blogging, I’ve not read many of the books lingering on my shelves. The books that are judging me for adding new books every month. I can almost hear them question me when I add more to the already bulging shelves. If books had eyebrows, they’d definitely be raised every single time I buy a new book.

So I’ve decided to read for ME. I apologise to the authors waiting for reviews on their books, but this is much needed!

I’m excited to read without pressure and publish some reviews of books that I’ve been hoarding for a while. Normal service will resume next month!

Bring on the TBR pile!

I’ve done quite well this week. I’ve managed to read 5 books. They have been fairly short. My reviews on these books, should be published within the next week.

I’m pretty pleased with 5 books, because I overall wanted to read 8-10 for this challenge. I think because they were short books, I was able to get through them fairly quickly. Unfortunately though, I wasn’t really blown away by any of them.

The next 4 on my list are:

  • Crash Into You- Katie McGarry
  • The Switch- Andrea Heltsely & Dawn Pendleton
  • The Merciful Scar- Rebecca St. James + Nancy Rue
  • An Infidel in Paris- S.J. Laidlaw

I hope everyone taking part in the challenge is doing well!

October Challenge: Read more books on my Kindle

I have an alarming amount of books on my Kindle left unread. I really need to start getting through them, so in the month of October, I have decided to ONLY read books on my Kindle. This is a big thing for me to do, as I love my ‘real’ books so much. However, I figure that if I dedicate a month to my e-reader, I’ll start to slowly get through the overwhelming amount of books on there.

I picked ten books to start with out of my TBR box.

Here are the first ten books I aim to read-

  1. The Return- Victoria Hislop
  2. Cutting For Stone- Abraham Verghese
  3. The Mystery Death of Miss Austen- Lindsay Ashford
  4. Code Name Verity- Elizabeth Wein
  5. Courtiers: The Secret History of Kensington Palace- Lucy Worsley
  6. The Apple: Crimson Petal Stories- Michel Faber
  7. Corrag- Susan Fletcher
  8. Dollhouse- Anya Allyn
  9. The Personal History of Rachel Dupree- Ann Weisgarber
  10. In Search Of Adam- Caroline Smailes

I shall round up how many books I managed to read at the end of October. With a week off work, I’m pretty hopeful that I’ll have lots of reading time.

Beth and Chrissi do Kid-Lit….Revisiting children’s classics

Yes, I know I’ve just posted a challenge I’m doing this year, but another one won’t hurt will it?

The Beth and Chrissi do Kid-Lit challenge is my sister and I taking on children’s classics. We’ve defined classics as books we enjoyed when we were young[er]. My sister and I have always been avid readers. We read together, discuss books together, we both have reading blogs so we thought why not invent a challenge together, so here it is…

We both picked 6 books that we thought were children’s classics. We shall read one book a month for the year. Our reviews will be put on our blogs. (I shall link to Beth’s review)

Here’s the 12 books that made the challenge:

JANUARYAlice’s Adventures in Wonderland – Lewis Carroll

FEBRUARYThe Water Babies – Charles Kingsley

MARCHThe Phantom Tollbooth – Norton Juster

APRILStig of the Dump – Clive King

MAYHeidi – Johanna Spyri

JUNE A Little Princess – Frances Hodgson Burnett

AUGUSTThe Children of the New Forest – Frederick Marryat

SEPTEMBER A Wrinkle in Time – Madeleine L’Engle
