This Week In Books #156

I am joining in with the lovely Lipsy from Lipsy’s Lost and Found’s feature which highlights our week in books. I shall be sharing what I’m reading now, then and next! I won’t be showcasing my new books as I do that on a Saturday. I’m really excited by this feature as I loved sharing my recent reads.

NOW

Little Darlings

I’m currently nearly halfway through this book which I’m very much enjoying. It’s quite dark! I like a dark read.

THEN

Vox

I recently finished Vox which I’ll be reviewing with Beth as part of our ‘Talking About’ feature.

NEXT

Dear Evan Hansen

I am excited to read this book! 🙂 I’ve heard great things about it.

Looking Ahead- This Month’s TBR (May 2019)

Welcome to my Looking Ahead post for May. In April, I managed to read all of the books on my TBR post.

Here are this month’s books! Thanks to Tina over at Reading Between The Pages for hosting! As ever, click on the book image, if you want to add it to your Goodreads TBR!

Vox

Goodreads Synopsis:

Silence can be deafening.

Jean McClellan spends her time in almost complete silence, limited to just one hundred words a day. Any more, and a thousand volts of electricity will course through her veins.

Now the new government is in power, everything has changed. But only if you’re a woman.

Almost overnight, bank accounts are frozen, passports are taken away and seventy million women lose their jobs. Even more terrifyingly, young girls are no longer taught to read or write.

For herself, her daughter, and for every woman silenced, Jean will reclaim her voice. This is only the beginning…

[100 WORD LIMIT REACHED]

I’m really looking forward to this book! 🙂 I’ve heard good things about it! It will be reviewed as part of the Talking About feature that I do with Beth.

The Enchanted Wood (The Faraway Tree, #1)

Goodreads Synopsis:

Jo, Bessie and Fanny move to the country and find an Enchanted Wood right on their doorstep. In the magic Faraway Tree live the magical characters that soon become their new friends – Moon-Face, Silky the fairy, and Saucepan Man. Together they visit the strange lands (the Roundabout Land, the Land of Ice and Snow, Toyland and the Land of Take What You Want) atop the tree and have the most exciting adventures – and narrow escapes.

I can’t wait to read more kid-lit! 🙂 Enid Blyton is such a throwback for me!

Crazy Lady!

Goodreads Synopsis:

Increasingly alienated from his widowed father, Vernon joins his friends in ridiculing the neighborhood outcasts’Maxine, an alcoholic prone to outrageous behavior, and Ronald, her retarded son. But when a social service agency tries to put Ronald into a special home, Vernon fights against the move.

Um… this is the banned book choice for May. I’m intrigued!

The Last Thing She Told Me

I hadn’t heard of this book before but I think it looks like it could be a good one!

Nine Perfect Strangers

Probably my most anticipated on this list! I enjoy Liane Moriarty’s writing.

Somebody I Used to Know: A Memoir

I think this could be a heart-breaker.
