Ten Books To Read If You’re In The Mood For A Light Read

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s list are ten recommendations to read if you’re in the mood for… I decided to go for a fun, light read. Sometimes we all need a bit of light reading in our lives!

As always, book images go to Goodreads!

The Undomestic Goddess- Sophie Kinsella

The Undomestic Goddess

I am a big fan of Sophie Kinsella’s standalone books. Her Shopaholic books are good too, but have got a little bit ridiculous in my eyes. This book is one of my favourites of hers. It follows our main protagonist as she makes a life changing decision!

Lucy In The Sky- Paige Toon

Lucy in the Sky

Paige Toon is one of my favourite authors. I do love her books. I love how her characters combine within her books.

Johnny Be Good- Paige Toon

Johnny Be Good (Johnny Be Good, #1)

This is the first Paige Toon book I read. I absolutely devoured it.

Chasing Daisy- Paige Toon

Chasing Daisy

I’m sorry, but I’m trying to convince you to read Paige Toon if you’re into lighter reads! 😉 It has more depth than you might expect.

Going Vintage- Lindsey Leavitt

Going Vintage

Cute and easy to read. I really liked this book!

The Book Of Tomorrow- Cecelia Ahern

The Book of Tomorrow

It couldn’t be a list like this without a Cecelia Ahern book. Her books are magical!

Magic Under Glass- Jackie Dolamore

Magic Under Glass (Magic Under, #1)

This story is so adorable and yet so underrated at the same time. It involves automatons, dancers and magic. Too cute!

Adorkable- Sara Manning

Adorkable

I was recommended this book by my good friend Luna. It is totally adorkable! 😉

The Selection- Kiera Cass

The Selection (The Selection, #1)

I’m not the biggest fan of this series, but it’s certainly light and easy to read.

You’re The One That I Want-Giovanna Fletcher

You're the One That I Want

Giovanna Fletcher is another wonderful writer with great relatable characters who are easy to read about.

Top Ten Tuesday Freebie- Books I loved in my pre-blogging days!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s list is a Top Ten freebie. I decided to go for books I loved in my preblogging days!

As ever, book images go to Goodreads!

Me Before You- Jojo Moyes

Me Before You (Me Before You, #1)

For regular readers of my blog this will come as NO surprise. I absolutely adore this book. It is easily one of my favourite books of all time. It’s a book that I recommend to EVERYONE. I have so much love for this book, it’s unreal.

The Help- Kathryn Stockett

The Help

I simply love this book! I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. I can’t even remember when how I first came across it. I also really like the movie adaptation which is very unusual for me. It is very true to the book which I appreciate!

If You Could See Me Now- Cecelia Ahern

If You Could See Me Now

Cecelia Ahern writes such magical books. I absolutely devour her writing. This book is a favourite of mine. It’s about a lady who falls for her nephew’s ‘grown up’ imaginary friend. Cecelia’s writing is so easy to read. I adore her!

The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time- Mark Haddon

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time

This book took me by surprise. I really didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. It’s definitely one I want to reread in the future.

The Little House- Philippa Gregory

The Little House

I really like Philippa Gregory’s writing style. Some of her more contemporary reads are a bit hit and miss, but I thoroughly enjoyed The Little House. It’s a little disturbing, following a lady suffering with postpartum depression and a horrendous mother in law…

Harry Potter- J.K Rowling

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (Harry Potter, #1)

I adore the Harry Potter series. I always want to have a reread, but too many books, too little time!

Jasmyn- Alex Bell

Jasmyn

I might be a bit biased with this book, as Alex is a good friend of mine, but I absolutely adore this! Such a wonderful, creative story.

Magic Under Glass- Jackie Dolamore

Magic Under Glass (Magic Under, #1)

This book is so fricking cute. I absolutely adore it.

The Sky Is Everywhere- Jandy Nelson

The Sky is Everywhere

Jandy Nelson’s debut novel stole my heart. I absolutely adored it!

The Other Hand (otherwise known as Little Bee)- Chris Cleave

The Other Hand

I was really impressed with Chris Cleave’s writing. This book was fantastic with a balance of humour and tragedy.

Top Ten Words/Topics That Instantly Make Me Buy/Pick Up A Book

toptentuesday

This is a weekly meme by The Broke and The Bookish. This week the list is Top Ten Words/Topics That Instantly Make Me Buy/Pick Up A Book. I’ve included an example of a book that I’ve loved with the particular word/topic that made me pick it up. In no particular order…

1. Tudors– I have a bit of an obsession with The Tudors and I have no idea where it’s come from. I just find that era fascinating. I loved the Philippa Gregory Tudor series. I never watched the TV series The Tudors. I wonder if I should, or whether it’s just reading about them that I love to do.

538206

2. London– I absolutely love London, and know it fairly well, so books that are set in London really appeal to me. I just love knowing the places that authors discuss in their books. I have a lot of special memories from London trips. If I could live there I would.

16038247

3. Teaching- I work in an infant school, specifically with 5-6 year olds. Stories around teaching/school life always make me smile.

4. Music- Another passion of mine, besides reading, is music. I don’t think there’s a day that goes by without me listening to music in some shape or form.

Saving June

5. Magical- If a book has a magical element in it, I’m usually drawn to it. I love suspending disbelief and just going with the story, no matter how ridiculous it may seem.

6461779

6. Dance- I can not dance to save my life, but I really love watching dancing (especially ballet) so if I read a book is about dance in some way I’m very likely to pick it up.

12788061

7. Psychological Thriller- I used to read the same sort of books but within the past year or so, I’ve really got into psychological thrillers. I seem to like reading things that are a bit messed up!

10227033

8. Dystopian- I’ve recently got into Dystopian books a lot more. I know there are a hell of a lot of Dystopian books out there, some not so good as others but so far the ones I have read I’ve really enjoyed!

9. Fairy tales- I still seem to fall in love with fairy tale stories or retellings.

Splintered

10. Chinese/Japanese- I’m also very likely to fall in love with a story based in China or Japan. I just find the way they’re told so beautiful.
