How did I get it?:
I bought it!

She sees through the eyes of a killer…

Everyone thinks Vee is narcoleptic, but her secret condition is far more terrifying. When Vee passes out she slides into other people’s minds and can see the world through their eyes. It’s been happening for long enough that she thinks she’s gotten a handle on it. But nothing prepares her for sliding into someone holding a bloody knife, standing over someone’s body.

Vee wishes she could share her secret, but who would believe her? She can’t bring herself to tell her best friend, let alone the police. But when someone else ends up dead, Vee knows she must find a way to unmask the killer before they strike again.

Slide is a killer read written with a brilliant and super-slick style that will leave you breathless.

Quite a while, back my friend Luna recommended this book to me. Again, because I’ve made March the month when I read what I want to read, I decided to read Slide. I thought it was an incredibly easy to read book which had an interesting premise.

Vee is our main character. She is narcoleptic, but in this particular story, when she has an episode she slides into someone else’s head. Vee doesn’t know how to control it. She finds it particularly unpleasant and what’s more, the situation gets worse for Vee. She accidently witnesses a murder. She has no idea who the killer is, is, but she certainly wants to find out before anything gets worse. It seems that all of her sister’s friends are dying, and Vee doesn’t want her sister to be the next victim. Vee begins to learn to control her power and use it for the better.

I thought the plot of Slide was fantastic. I’m not so sure that I’d like that power myself. I often want to know what people are thinking, but to actually slide into someone else’s mind? No thanks! The reason I’ve rated this book as 3.5 stars is because I found it slow in places. I felt like Vee took quite some time to think about using her ‘sliding’ for good use.

I thought the characters were good. I liked Vee. She did used to be popular alongside her cheerleader friends. Then of course, she found out that her friends weren’t nice people at all. She ended up like a bit of a loner, but she was fine with that. She had a good friend, Rollins and then Zane comes on the scene. Both of the love interests are great guys, although I only ever got the impression that Vee really liked one in that way. Vee doesn’t have to make a choice between the guys though, which I liked. I’m getting far too bored with love triangles in Young Adult fiction.

Slide is worth taking a look at. I liked the story and I’ll try and continue with the series at some point!

Would I recommend it?:
Yes! 3.5 stars
