Ten Of The Longest Books I’ve Read!

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It’s all about love of lists, love of literature and bringing bookish people together.

This week it’s all about the longest books we’ve read. I used Goodreads to find this out. Good old Goodreads! So here are mine…

Gone With The Wind- Margaret Mitchell- 1,037 pages

Gone with the Wind

This took me a while to get through but I got there in the end!

Shantaram- Gregory David Roberts- 933 pages

Shantaram

This took me a while to get through as well. I do remember enjoying it, but it was quite heavy-going.

The Crimson Petal And The White- Michel Faber- 901 pages

The Crimson Petal and the White

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and really didn’t expect to!

Into The Wilderness- Sara Donati- 876 pages

Into the Wilderness (Wilderness, #1)

A wonderful story!

Harry Potter and The Order Of The Phoenix- J.K. Rowling- 870 pages

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Harry Potter, #5)

It didn’t feel like this book was as long as it is! I whizzed through it.

Outlander- Diana Gabaldan- 850 pages

Outlander (Outlander, #1)

I haven’t seen the show but I certainly enjoyed the books!

Winter- Marissa Meyer- 824 pages

Winter (The Lunar Chronicles, #4)

I love this series. I didn’t want it to end but Winter was a wonderful ending.

The Summer Garden- Paullina Simons- 776 pages

The Summer Garden (The Bronze Horseman, #3)

I love this trilogy! Again, when a book is good it doesn’t feel like a long read!

Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows- J.K. Rowling- 759 pages

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter, #7)

Another book that I whizzed through! Although some parts of it irked me, on the whole I loved the ending!

Breaking Dawn- Stephenie Meyer-756 pages

Breaking Dawn (Twilight, #4)

Yes, I read the Twilight books. I thought they were okay at the time but looking back… they’re not the best books in the world!

Tell me about the longest books you’ve read! Feel free to leave me a link and I’ll stop by!

A-Z Book Survey

This survey is courtesy of one of my favourite bloggers, Jamie from The Perpetual Page Turner. Check out her post HERE

Do you remember these kind of surveys on Myspace? I used to love them. I absolutely love the idea of this one, so here it is… My A-Z Book Survey

Author you’ve read the most books from:

According to Goodreads my most read author is Philippa Gregory. That doesn’t surprise me. I adore Philippa Gregory! I think when I was younger it would’ve been Roald Dahl or Enid Blyton.

Best Sequel Ever:

Ooh this is a hard one. I read a lot of series. I really like Scarlet by Marissa Meyer –the second book in the Lunar Chronices. I much preferred it to Cinder.

Currently Reading:

Boundless by Cynthia Hand.

Drink of Choice While Reading:

I don’t really drink that much when I’m reading. One of my favourite things to do with my sister is read in Costa. I don’t drink tea or coffee so I like to have a hot chocolate.

E-reader or Physical Book?

I do read both, but the physical book will ALWAYS win for me. You can’t beat holding (and smelling!) a real book.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Actually Dated In High School:

Holder from Hopeless/Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover. Please.

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:

Wither by Lauren DeStefano. I had heard such mixed opinions about it, but I’m glad I read it. I loved it!

Hidden Gem Book:

I didn’t expect to love Me Before You by Jojo Moyes as much as I did. That book is honestly one of my favourite books ever.

Important Moment in your Reading Life:

I have two things really. My first is my experience reading as a young child. My mum taught me how to read before I started school and my love of books has followed me (and grown) throughout my life. My sister (Bibliobeth) used to read to me and I LOVED that. So I have my family to thank for instilling the love of literature into my life. My second most recent important moment is starting this blog. It’s still a baby blog but it’s inspired me to read more and read different genres.

Just Finished:

I’ve just finished Downside Up by Hayley Long.

Kinds of Books You Won’t Read:

I’m not really a fan of horror. My imagination is incredibly vivid. I still remember the monster I read about years ago that scared me SO much. *shudders*

Longest Book You’ve Read:

Gone With The WindMargaret Mitchell. Now that’s a beast of a book. It’s HUGE!

Major book hangover because of:

I didn’t want to mention the same book twice, but I always, always think of Me Before You even though I read it some time ago.

Number of Bookcases You Own:

Officially I own one, in my bedroom. But I’ve taken over two in the spare room and one out in the hall. Oops!

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:

Little Women- Louisa May Alcott. I just love that book!

Preferred Place To Read:

I get a lot of reading done when I’m on the train, in the bath or in the garden on a warm day!

Quote that inspires you/gives you all the feels from a book you’ve read:

“The hardest choices in life aren’t between what’s right and what’s wrong but between what’s right and what’s best.” Jamie FordHotel On The Corner of Bitter And Sweet

Reading Regret:

Spending so many years just reading chick-lit. Never stepping outside of that genre. Thank goodness I read more widely now.

Series You Started And Need To Finish(all books are out in series):

I want to finish the Chemical Gardens Series by Lauren DeStefano.

Three of your All-Time Favourite Books:

In no particular order..

  1. Me Before YouJojo Moyes
  2. Little WomenLouisa May Alcott
  3. Gone Girl- Gillian Flynn

(Wow that was hard! I have too many all time favourites!)

Unapologetic Fangirl For:

Cecelia Ahern. I LOVE her books, (bar one, but I love her so much I can forget about that one) they usually have a magical element in them and I’m just a sucker for that..

Very Excited For This Release More Than All The Others:

I’m pretty excited for Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi. I’m interested to see how the Shatter Me series concludes.

Worst Bookish Habit:

Requesting books from NetGalley when I have so many books to read. Why do I do it?!

X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:

The Undomestic GoddessSophie Kinsella

Your latest book purchase:

My latest book purchase was The Originals by Cat Patrick

ZZZ-snatcher book (last book that kept you up WAY late):

The Name On Your Wrist- Helen Hiorns. Look out for this book. I thought it was incredible!
