Round up of British Book Challenge 2013

I can’t believe it’s been a year, since I accepted the challenge to read 12 books by a British author. I’ve absolutely loved discovering new British authors this year. I’m definitely going to continue the challenge next year. We have far too many brilliant authors in the UK, that deserve much more recognition.

Here are the British Authors I’ve discovered this year, complete with a link to my review!

Here’s to discovering new British Authors in 2014 and continuing to support UK writers!

You Had Me At Hello

How did I get it?:
I bought it.

What happens when the one that got away comes back? Find out in this sparkling debut from Mhairi McFarlane.

‘Think of the great duos of history. We’re just like them.’
‘You mean like Kylie and Jason? Torvill and Dean? Sonny and Cher?’
‘I think you’ve missed the point, Rachel.’

Rachel and Ben. Ben and Rachel. It was them against the world. Until it all fell apart. It’s been a decade since they last spoke, but when Rachel bumps into Ben one rainy day, the years melt away.

They’d been partners in crime and the best of friends. But life has moved on: Ben is married. Rachel is not. Yet in that split second, Rachel feels the old friendship return. And along with it, the broken heart she’s never been able to mend.

I bought this book when it was on offer on Amazon as sometimes I just love to indulge in a light and fluffy read. It was a funny, well-written, easy read. It kept me entertained, despite being predictable. It’s the sort of book that you can read easily, but it doesn’t challenge your thinking or surprise you in anyway. I know some people have problems reading books like this, but sometimes books like these are perfect for a bit of escapism. I’d recommend it for chick lit fans, and someone looking for something light to read.

Would I recommend it?:
