Top Ten New To Me Authors That I Read in 2016

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful The Broke and The Bookish. For this week’s list we’re listing our favourite new to us authors that we’ve read this year. I’ve discovered some gems this year but I have to admit, I have returned to old faithfuls more. I must get better!

Courtney Summers-

I started with All The Rage and have since caught up on all things Courtney Summers. I think she’s such a powerful, edgy author.

Keith Stuart-

I really enjoyed Keith’s debut novel Boy Made of Blocks which was about an autistic boy and his family. Heartwarming.

Carrie Hope Fletcher-

I’ve known about Carrie for years, so was happy to read her debut novel On The Other Side.

John Corey Whaley-

Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2013

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and The Bookish. Each week a new list is posted. This week’s Top Ten is Top Ten New-To-Me Authors I Read In 2013. I’ve read a lot of new authors this year, as I’ve really expanded the genres that I read. I’ve discovered some brilliant blogs with many book recommendations. It’s been hard to pick ten.. but here goes..

In no particular order.. (click on images for my reviews of the books!)

Cat Clarke

Entangled untitled 16036975

I started reading Cat Clarke on recommendation from Luna from Luna’s Little Library. I personally feel like Cat Clarke’s writing has got better and better as the books came out. Undone was one of my favourite reads of the whole year!

Denise Deegan

10381803 11069761 15743701

Another recommendation from Luna, I’m sensing a bit of a theme here. I loved this series, particularly the second book And For Your Information.

 Colleen Hoover

15717943 17340050 15950496

I didn’t expect to love Hopeless and Losing Hope as much as I did.  Losing Hope was my favourite out of the three books of Colleen Hoover’s that I’ve read so far!

 Katie McGarry

pushing-the-limits 13561164 17233800
I absolute adore Katie McGarry’s writing. I can’t wait for the next book to come out. She can’t write them fast enough for me!

James Dawson

James Dawson is the only male writer to make this list! I have read some other awesome new-to-me authors this year, but James Dawson is the only one that immediately came to mind without going to Goodreads. I have his book Hollow Pike to read and also can’t wait for his next book.

Cynthia Hand

unearthly 11563110 13049981
I really loved this series. I think Hallowed, the second book, suffered a bit from middle book syndrome, but in my opinion Boundless really made up for it.

Michelle Hodkin

8591107 12950372

I’m a bit obsessed with this series and can’t wait until next year to see how the series concludes!

Rainbow Rowell

8909152 17322949 16068905

I loved discovering Rainbow Rowell this year. I think my favourite of the three books that have been published by Rainbow is Eleanor & Park.

Siobhan Curham

Finding-Cherokee-Brown 16275771

Yes, these books were recommended by Luna. She really does give me the best recommendations. I like both of these books equally.

Holly Smale

cover23743-medium 18065780

These books are just such fun. I’ve discovered a lot of brilliant UKYA authors this year and Holly Smale is definitely one of them. She’s a lovely person too.
