Ten Series That I Have Quit!

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful The Broke and The Bookish. This week’s list are the Top Ten bookish things we want to quit, or have quit. We could be creative with this list, but all of my creativeness has seem to have disappeared! I thought I’d look at ten series that I have given up on. Me being me, I’m quite happy to be persuaded to continue if it’s really a book series you love…so let me know!

Matched- Ally Condie

Matched (Matched, #1)

I started the second book in the trilogy, but I just couldn’t get on with it. I found it unoriginal and not very exciting to read.

Eve- Anna Carey

Eve (Eve, #1)

I thought this book was okay, but I’m not excited enough about it to continue reading.

The Pledge- Kimberly Derting

The Pledge (The Pledge, #1)

Again, another series I could take or leave, so I decided to leave…

Vampire Academy- Richelle Mead

Vampire Academy (Vampire Academy, #1)

I’m sorry! I know this series is really popular but it just didn’t do it for me. I don’t think I could commit to the rest of the series when I found the first book a bit dull.

Across The Universe- Beth Revis

Across the Universe (Across the Universe, #1)

I thought this series was going to be my kinda thing, but it wasn’t. It was okay, I’m just not inspired to continue.

The Darkest Minds- Alexandra Bracken

The Darkest Minds (The Darkest Minds, #1)

I really wanted to like this series too, but I didn’t connect with the characters at all.

The Selection- Kiera Cass

The Selection (The Selection, #1)

I was happy with it finishing with The One, I just have no interest in the rest of the books!

The 5th Wave- Rick Yancey

The 5th Wave (The 5th Wave, #1)

The 5th Wave took me ages to get into and then hasn’t really stayed with me, so I’ve decided not to continue!

Partials- Dan Wells

Partials (The Partials Sequence, #1)

I remember liking Partials but it’s been so long since I’ve read it that I’ve lost interest in the books!

Rebel Belle- Rachel Hawkins

Rebel Belle (Rebel Belle, #1)

I enjoyed Rebel Belle but I’m not really interested in the next book, especially after very mixed reviews!

Do you think I should continue with any of these series? Which bookish things have you quit? Feel free to leave me your Top Ten lists and I’ll stop by!

Click on the book cover to get to the Goodread’s page for the book.

What are you currently reading?

18077961I am currently reading the brilliant Liv, Forever by Amy Talkington. This is one of my most anticipated debuts for 2014. I’m halfway through this book (it’s 280 pages long) and I found it hard to put down last night before bed! The story is intriguing and the writing…I almost want to describe it as delicious! I am on the blog tour for this book, my review will be coming out later this week!

What did you recently finish reading?

17325147I really, really wanted to enjoy this book as I loved reading Flat-Out Love by the same author. I enjoyed it, but unfortunately not as much as Flat- Out Love.

What do you think you’ll read next?

16101128I’m finally getting around to reading The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey. I’ve heard such good things about this book. I can’t wait to check it out for myself.

Have you read any of these books? What did you think? Please feel free to answer the questions in the comments section below or leave your link to your WWW Wednesday post!

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you’re adding to your shelves, be it buying or borrowing. From ‘real’ books you’ve purchased, a book you’ve borrowed, a book you’ve been given or an e-book they can all be shared!

As ever, click on the book image to get to its Goodreads page!

On Monday 19th August it was my birthday! I’m getting my bookish presents from my parents this weekend so I have included what I received from other people and I guess I’ll have more to add to the birthday pile next week.

Borrowed from Bibliobeth:

Every now and then my sister unleashes a stash of books that she’s been storing for me.

I don’t know anything about these books. Obviously I respect my sister’s opinion on books so if se thinks I’ll like them… then fair enough! I’m particularly intrigued by Reconstructing Amelia from this selection.

11457525 13628969 15837724  17286747 18047632

I love Diane Chamberlain’s books so I’m looking forward to reading Necessary Lies. I’m also very excited about reading Kiss Me First. I’m also a huge fan of Jojo Moyes so I can’t wait to read Honeymoon In Paris.

Birthday Gifts (to be continued…):

7600924 11735983 12950372 13600168 16101128 16275049 16282536

I’m pretty excited about all of these books. I can’t wait to read Insurgent and The Evolution of Mara Dyer. I loved the first book in those series, so I’m looking forward to getting stuck into the next book. I’ve wanted to read The 5th Wave for a while. I’ve also heard great things about Cruel Summer and Forbidden. I’m a bit disappointed that I haven’t got the other cover of Daughter Of Smoke and Bone. I liked the previous cover much better. However, I’m really looking forward to starting that series. I also have really enjoyed Emma Donoghue’s previous books, so Astray looks promising!

What are you stacking your shelves with this week? Please feel free to leave a link to your posts and I’ll come and check them out at some point this weekend!
