Top Ten Tuesday- Page To Screen

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It’s all about love of lists, love of literature and bringing bookish people together.

This week’s list is a page to screen freebie. We can talk about anything page to screen related! I’m not often a fan of adaptations, especially when they are from my favourite book but there have been some good ones and I’m going to list my favourites.

Matilda– One of my favourites! I love the book, but I equally love the movie.

The Witches– Another Roald Dahl… I think this was so well cast. I used to love watching this!

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory– I know, I know. I’m a Roald Dahl fan girl, but the older version has my heart! ❤

The Help– I was worried about this book being made into a movie but I thought it was so well done.

Me Before You– This was one of my biggest worries as it’s one of my favourite books, but they did it well!

Harry Potter– There may have been some bits missing, but I thought in the main part, the movies were fabulous.

Love, Simon– I adore Simon Vs The Homo Sapiens Agenda and I was worried about this one too, but it was SO good.

Little Women– I love the March sisters! So well cast.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas– I read the book to my class last year and I was reminded by how I prefer the movie. Rare!

The Wizard Of Oz– You can’t beat this movie.

What are your favourites? Feel free to leave a link to your post and I’ll stop by!

Top Ten Tuesday: All About The Villains!

toptentuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the wonderful The Broke and The Bookish. For this week’s list it’s all about the villains! I loved putting this list together. I love a bookish villain!

Voldemort and Dolores Umbridge- Harry Potter

Voldemort has to be one of the ultimate villains in children’s literature. He’s so evil, I love to hate him. Dolores Umbridge also drove me mad but I loved it. J.K. Rowling sure knows how to write a villain!

Miss Trunchbull- Matilda

I used to be terrified of Miss Trunchbull when I was younger. She scared my class too, but they loved it at the same time.

The Grand High Witch- The Witches

The Grand High Witch is such a fantastic character. I really wanted to read this book to my last class but I think it would have scared them.

Amy- Gone Girl

Amy is a messed up character. She freaked me but I LOVED it.

The White Witch- The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Ooh, The White Witch was evil and powerful. Loved to read about her.

Mrs Danvers- Rebecca

I found Mrs Danvers to be so creepy. She got under my skin.

Queen Levana- The Lunar Chronicles

Love Queen Levana. I felt like Fairest helped to get to know the character more. I think she’s a fantastic villain.

President Snow- The Hunger Games

You have to have a great villain in a series like The Hunger Games. I think President Snow was a perfect villain.

Ty- Stolen

Ty got under my skin because he was so awful yet somehow you ended up feeling sorry for him? How does that work!?

Who are your favourite villains? Feel free to leave a link to your Top Ten post and I’ll stop by!

Top Ten Best/Worst Movie Adaptations

toptentuesdayIt’s Tuesday again, so it’s time for another Top Ten list. Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the lovely The Broke and The Bookish, who love making lists. This week’s list is quite hard for me, because I tend to steer clear of movie adaptations because I’m SO worried that they’re going to wreck the book I love.

So… I have decided to share the ones I have watched and liked and then share the ones I’m worried are going to be the worst movie adaptations. I’m hoping that if you’ve watched them and enjoyed them I will too.

I’ve added trailers to this week’s list, so you can check out the trailer and go on to watch the movie if you feel that way inclined..

Harry Potter- J.K Rowling

I realise for some people, this might be on their worst movie adaptations list, but I think the Harry Potter series as a whole was well adapted to the big screen. Yes, some of them didn’t include all that I’d wanted to see, but I was overall impressed with the adaptations. My favourite out of the series was Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.

One Day- David Nicholls

I loved this book. Really loved it. The movie also brought me to tears.

Little Women- Louisa May Alcott (1994 version)

I have a lot of love for this book. I’ve read it so much. I used to watch this movie quite religiously.

Lord Of The Flies-William Golding

I studied this book at school and loved the movie adaptation too.

The next two are two I firmly remember from childhood.

The Witches- Roald Dahl

I used to be terrified of The Grand High Witch in the book and in the movie 😉

Matilda- Roald Dahl

Oh my goodness, I used to watch this ALL the time. I loved Matilda. Mara Wilson was such a great child actress

That’s it! The next four are movies that I’m anxious to watch because I’m worried it’ll ruin my precious memories of the books!

The Other Boleyn Girl- Philippa Gregory

I am obsessed with the Tudors. I really enjoyed Philippa Gregory’s Tudor series and I’m worried the movie will ruin my love of the book!

My Sister’s Keeper- Jodi Picoult

Another one I’m terrified to watch. I’ve heard the movie really changes the book. Noooo.

The Secret Life Of Bees- Sue Monk Kidd

The Secret Life of Bees was a great book. Not sure how well it would be adapted!

The Help- Kathyrn Stockett

I can’t express how much I loved this book. It makes me worried to watch the film. I’ve heard it’s good, I think I just need that confirmed!

Please feel free to leave your links to your best/worst movie adaptation lists and I’ll come by and see what you’ve added. If you’ve watched any of my 4 I’m nervous to watch, please let me know your opinions on them!

By the way, I’m on Bloglovin’ now so let me know if you follow me, and I’ll follow you back!
